(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Angel Fuentes (D-Camden/Gloucester) has sponsored a resolution to designate June of each year as “Men’s Health Awareness Month” in New Jersey. The month of June is annually observed as “Men’s Health Month” across the nation, and is observed with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health and outreach activities.
“Preventative measures like diagnostic screenings and increased education about the services and treatments available to men are crucial to maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” said Assemblyman Fuentes. “Raising awareness of these simple tests can help save the lives of New Jersey’s husbands, fathers, brothers and sons.”
The resolution encourages more local efforts to make men and their families aware of these screenings, and events tailored to serve the specific needs of New Jersey’s residents. Having been passed by the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee, and the resolution now goes to the full Assembly for consideration.
“I am encouraged that the Health and Senior Services Committee has seen the importance this resolution has for the well-being of New Jersey’s families,” added Assemblyman Fuentes, who is Vice Chair to the Assembly Women and Children Committee.
